Hello! We are Madison and Nathan Mau and we have started our journey to become parents! It’s difficult for us to express the joy we feel as we fulfill our greatest desire of being parents, while also expressing our sincerest gratitude for you. So, first and foremost, thank you for your consideration and time in reading our profile.
We feel it is important to share that coming here for help has been a very weighted conversation. Asking for help, especially financial, does not come easy nor do we take it lightly. But the reality is that adoption is expensive, an average of $30,000-$40,000. We also feel it is important to share that part of these costs are pre and post placement expenses for the birth mom. We are pinching pennies and working hard to save and earn as much as we can, but we can’t do it alone. We believe that God will bring others along on this journey with us and help us become parents. Honestly, every dollar helps, whether it’s a donation of $5 or $500, every dollar meets a need on our road to becoming a family.
Nathan and I first started dating in 2012 while I attended Radford and he attended Virginia Tech. You would think it was his great looks or charming personality that won me over but I think it was the pickup line while asking me for my number “Um, so what’s your name again?” and since then I knew he was the one. After graduation we landed in Kentucky for a few years where we adopted our pups Bonnie and Georgia and learned to love Kentucky basketball- Go Cats! We married in 2016 in front of all our friends and family in our favorite town, New Bern, North Carolina. In 2016 we also moved to Staunton, Virginia and purchased our home; we loved the idea of being closer to our friends and family!
I am a Type 1 Diabetic and unfortunately it is not the healthiest choice for me to become pregnant. Our desire to be promoted to Mom and Dad runs deep. While we know this journey will be emotional and tough, we know it will be worth it. We find solace in knowing that God is going to place the most perfect baby at the most perfect time in our lives. We are ready and we are EXCITED!
