My name is Sofia Bartolo, I am 24 years old and Portuguese, and I am managing this GoFundMe campaign for Kaaka Philex, who runs a small orphanage in Uganda.

I met Kaaka through Instagram, and I was deeply moved by his story. He grew up with nothing, in extreme struggle, until someone once believed in him and changed his life. Today, he is that person for others. He is currently taking care of more than 30 orphaned and vulnerable children, providing them with shelter, food, and access to education in very difficult conditions.

At first, I became a stable donor, and for a long time I was almost the only financial support for the orphanage, together with help from my family, who are also the biggest donors. As time passed, the needs became too great for us to handle alone, which is why I decided to create this GoFundMe page.

Right now, we need about €200 per month to cover rent, food, and school fees for the children. Our immediate goal is to raise $1,000 to stabilize the situation and ensure the children are safe and fed.

The donations will go directly toward food, chickens and seeds to build a small self-sustaining farm, educational supplies like books and pencils, and basic medical needs. I will post all receipts and updates on my Instagram, @aminisofs, so everything is fully transparent. We are also preparing to open a YouTube channel to share their story and reach more people.

These children only ask for a chance — for a meal, a bed, and an education. Even the smallest donation truly makes a difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page already helps more than you can imagine.
