Help Diego and Karma Find Warmth & Shelter This Winter

12/7/24 UPDATE: Diego has been approved for the housing voucher program!! He’s been working hard to take care of things and apply for resources to find housing. Current needs are to raise another $440 to pay for his deposit and application fee. Anything beyond that will be used to get him necessities once he moves in. If you’re local to the Ogden area, we will also begin collecting donations for furniture, dishes, etc. Please message me directly if you have things you’d like to donate.

Homelessness is a complicated issue to solve, but we are determined to do what we can to solve it for one special person and his amazing companion.

Diego and his canine companion, Karma, have been homeless for 3 years, in large part as a result of his mom moving into a nursing home. Diego stays close to be near his mom. He is a good man, a sweet soul, and someone we’ve grown to care about.

Without violating his privacy, there are legitimate reasons Diego is unable to work. Like so many people experiencing homelessness, circumstances and his own health challenges are the main contributing factors that have him living in a tent in the foothills of the mountains. I’m committed to helping him find the resources to get longer term support, but for now, we are working to help him and Karma survive the coming winter.

I’m sharing our initial fundraising goal that would provide shelter during the coldest parts of winter. Temperatures are rapidly dropping, snow is in the forecast, wild animals are coming down from the mountains - and Utah winters are harsh.

Anything helps, and donations will be prioritized to keep Diego and Karma warm and safe, including shelter, food and supplies. I will provide a full accounting of all donations spent and provide to all donors monthly.
