My name is Susan and that's my family in the cover image. My husband Paul and I are part of the aging parent/caregiver population here in New Brunswick, primarily in the Greater Moncton and surrounding areas! For 18 years, I have been the primary advocate for our son, Vincent, who was born with unique and complex neurodevelopmental challenges. We continue to keep our promise to advocate and support him for as long as we can.

The Undeniable Reality of the "Against the Grain" Struggle.

For years, I have felt the exhaustion of explaining the nuances of my son’s neurodivergence, only to be met with misunderstanding and/or dismissal most of the time. This persistent effort is more than tiring—it is depleting. Long-term caregiving without the right support drains our resources, impacts the well-being of our families, and leads to a cycle of chronic stress and health issues that no parent/caregiver should have to carry alone.

Society encourages our son "just like everyone else" and he tries with all that he is to meet those expectations. His brain, however, can only withstand that pressure for so long. For our chronologically mature, yet developmentally vulnerable children—those who have outgrown the school system but will always require 24/7 support and protection—the effort to make their way through an unfiltered world leads to silent struggles and significant emotional burnout. When they return to the only safe place they know, our homes, that bottled-up frustration is often unleashed causing a never-ending instability that consumes the energy of the entire family. It compromises the very safety and peace our homes are meant to provide.

While the challenges are significant, my family has been fortunate to work with some incredible individuals along the way. Authentic and compassionate experts who instinctively know how to step outside the 'Community Inclusion Box.' These people have provided a glimpse of what is possible when heart and expertise align. They are already practicing the 'Heart Strings' philosophy and have inspired our individualized support model — While their approach to genuinely listen, understand and guide our family is exceptional, this level of support shouldn't be a matter of luck to find it.

This fundraising campaign is driven by the very questions and fears that haunts every aging parent and longtime caregivers. It's precisely why we are raising the bar for community inclusion for our forever-dependent children.

The Innovative Dual-Pod Community Hub Model: Shifting from Institutional Care to Individualized Psychological Permanent Supportive Housing.

We didn't just dream this up; we lived through what is broken within the specialized support system, taking the best of what exists and strengthening the rest.

For individuals who possess the physical appearance of an adult, moving through the world with the heart and logic of a child, traditional housing—from isolated apartments to crowded institutions—often fails. Heart Strings In Motion is offering an innovative and sustainable solution within a unique "Dual-Pod Community Hub" designed to solve this crisis. It will provide private, sensory-stabilized studio apartments with a "Community Companion" system—a dedicated circle of support that provides the steady guidance and safety net our loved ones need to thrive within the community. By combining parent-contributed insights with evidence-based psychological expertise, we are creating a neighborhood-style environment where our children can finally experience the pride of "independence" without ever losing their anchor of safety, support, and protection. In doing so, we finally offer the aging parents/caregivers the greatest gift of all: the freedom to step back from 24/7 crisis management and return to simply being a family.

OUR IMMEDIATE GOAL: $35,000 to launch and unlock $4 Million within the next few years.

We estimate a total cost of $4 Million to bring this vision to life. This encompasses every foundational stage: from land acquisition and specialized blueprint design to a fully equipped, turn-key permanent supportive housing within a unique dual-pod community hub for our forever-dependent loved ones.

To secure this critical, large-scale funding, we must first demonstrate a strong interconnected community support. Reaching our initial goal of $35,000 is the essential first step; it proves to institutional funders that our community stands behind this vision, providing the momentum needed to unlock the $4 Million for the build.

This GoFundMe campaign will remain active as we work together to deliver this sustainable permanent supportive housing solution while providing the peace of mind our aging parent/caregiver community has long dreamed of.

Heart Strings In Motion is the Solution We Have Been Waiting For—WE CAN'T BUILD THIS WITHOUT YOU. WILL YOU STANT WITH US?

We've made being part of the solution easy:

1. Make a Donation: Whether it’s $5 or $50, every donation adds up and helps us generate the momentum we need for the build.

2. Become an Advocate: Share our campaign with everyone you know and help us reach those who align with and believe in this vision.

3. Follow our journey: Join in on the conversations and witness the development of this life-changing, community inclusion evolving solution for our forever-dependent children with unique and challenging neurodevelopment needs, their parents and/or long time caregivers.

Meet our son Vincent, who forever remains young at heart despite his chronological age.

His playful nature and unique way of seeing the world have opened our eyes, teaching us that connection is less about fitting in and more about welcoming and accepting others as they are. He has taught us more about patience, empathy, and unconditional love than we ever thought possible, reminding us to find joy in the simple moments and to celebrate every small victory. Thanks to him, we now see the world through his lens, without judgment, acknowledging that everyone, no matter their situations or circumstances, has their own story and individual profile. That everyone deserves to be seen, respected and included for who they are from the inside out.

Every parent/caregiver and studio tenant will have a story as unique as ours and we can't wait to share the lives and positive impact of all the others who become a part of this unique dual-pod community hub and permanent supportive housing solution.

"This dream of a dual-pod community hub which includes 20 supported studio apartments isn’t a question of 'if,' but 'when,' and with your help, nothing will stand in its way. Thank you for being part of this unfolding story."
