Haus of Codec; Committed to Ending Transition Aged Youth Homelessness. Period. 

 

Haus of Codec will be opening its door to our first residents on November, 1st 2021. Our team has been working hard to ensure a safe space is available for youth, ages 18 - 24 to call home and help them find their own, more permanent housing solutions and work force development opportunities.

 

We will begin by providing safe haven for 6 individuals in our first shelter space complete with a food and clothing pantry, self service kitchen, access to essential services through partner providers and a sense of community where there wasn't one before.

 

Our immediate goal is to raise $5,000 by our November, 1st opening to ensure a smooth launch.

What is Haus of Codec?

noun: codec; plural noun: codecs 

a device or program that compresses data to enable faster transmission and decompresses received data for Video and Audio.

 

Mission: Building community through the arts and Educational Empowerment. Based in the Creative Capital, Haus of Codec is committed to ensuring an end to transition-aged youth homelessness in Providence through the arts and workforce development.

 

Vision: To create a safer and more accessible means to housing, care, and essential services for displaced transition aged youth. 

 

Why do youth experience homelessness?

 

Our Long-term Goal:

 

We need your help to ensure we can create the following by November 1, 2022:

* Complete interior build of the property.

* Resources to house first tenants. 

* Down payment on our next property. 

 

Capacity for 40 individuals : ages 18 - 24, a safe space with access to emergency services; from peers to peers with programs developed and implemented by existing partner network.

 

20 Supportive Transition Based housing leased on a month to month basis to low or no income residents. Housing Support Services will be made available through Community Development Corporations in the Neighborhood.

 

20 Emergency Beds will be available nightly by lottery to those who either sign up online or at one of the shelter’s partner network agencies.

 

Phase One was completed on June 1st, 2021 and @HausofCodec needs your help in Phase Two to have our first residents move in on November 1st, 2021.

Developed Social Enterprise Opportunity in a Monthly LGBTQQIA+ Marketplace. 

 

Risks and challenges:

The risk of this project not being completed by this winter; an even greater number of youth will be displaced due to family trauma, lack of acceptance of youth's gender expression and identity, or for financial reasons.

 

Haus of Codec is partnering with existing human service providers such as House of Hope CDC, Sojourner House, AS220, Project Webber Renew and more to ensure every resident has access to the best care at all times.
