Water For Life - Reservoir
Donation protected
UPDATE January 30, 2019 - Water 4 Life Reservoir Project
The main reserve is finally completed, tubes and piping have been purchased and a receiving tank is on it's way to being built. Due to the lack of constant electricity in the country, we have decided to go with a solar panel for the energy to pump the water to the reserve tank from the source. This has increased the cost to about $18,000. A new donation in the sum of $5000 was just made to complete the project and once it again it was the Davidson Family and their friends. The only thing missing now is the solar panel, and the rest of the money to purchase it. It costs $6400 dollars, and we need $5257 dollars to complete the purchase. Therefore, I am again asking my friends, family, loved ones, and anyone who wants to help this community get clean water to drink at any time they want, please help again.

UPDATE February 18, 2018 - Water 4 Life Reservoir Project
It has been a little over a year since my first post about this project. In this time, so many people have come together to help make this project a reality. Now, I am happy to say that the first phase of the project has been completed. The water reservoir has been built, and the water is flowing in full force. The next phase of the project is to get this water to the community in need by pumping it through a system of tubes that will line the 2.5 kilometers to holding tanks. The holding tanks will be placed in a central location along the main road so it will be easily accessible to the entire community. (The location of the water reservoir, which is the source of where the water is coming from, can only be reached by donkey or by foot.)
I want to thank all of those who have donated their time or money to help this cause. A special thank you to the Davidson Family, Sherman Elementary School in Watertown, NY and Gansevoort Elementary School, in Rome, NY, Willy Perez, Aresenio de la Cruz, the engineers and all of the workers who helped complete the first phase of the project.
Now we need to finish the project and raise the rest of the money to do so. The projected costs are roughly another $6,000 - $7,000 dollars. We need to still purchase the tubes, pumps, holding tanks and labor. I know with the help of others, it can be done! This amount was raised to complete phase 1, the most difficult phase, and we will do it for phase 2!

My name is Kristi Maggio, and I am from Rome, New York. I currently live in the Dominican Republic where I have opened my own school. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a hard worker and look for the best things to happen in life. Being here has been an incredible experience for me, and I have learned so much. While I live in an area where most modern conveniences exist, it is hard to ignore the great need that exists all around me.
One of the most basic necessities for a human to live, WATER, is not accessible to many people. Last year I had the opportunity to learn about a company called Agua Pure, which creates water systems that provides clean water to a family of 4 for 3 years. After learning about this, I started a fundraiser, and I managed to earn enough money to buy 27 water systems. I personally delivered these water systems to many families in the mountain area of La Jaguita, outside of Cambita Garabitos, in the Dominican Republic. These are kind and loving people who showed such great appreciation for the efforts of myself and those who donated money. While some communities now have a system to clean the water, the greater problem is getting the water!
In this area, most people do not have ANY water or a well where they have readily accessible supplies of it. So where do they get their water?? Well, they must go to the bottom of the mountain to carry it up, or depend on the rain to fill large tanks, which doesn't happen enough to fulfill their needs.
Since I left there, I have spent a lot of time trying to think of how I can continue to help these people. What they need is a way to get the water up the mountain, which is in a spring at the bottom of the mountain. By doing this, we can provide the 3000 people that live up the mountain with water.
Therefore, the money to be raised will go towards getting the proper tanks, tubing, pumps and labor to do this. The project will be supervised by myself, and the ground crew in Cambita.
To do this, we have prepared the following method.
1.) We will construct a storage tank made of block in the area of the spring. This is where the water from the spring will be stored. Once it is stored, we will place two specialized electric pumps that are high powered with the capacity to push on a large scale and another for final distribution. The process will be through a line of high quality and resistant pipe tubing.
2.) Two water tanks will be placed in strategic locations. One that will serve as the receptacle for the water that will be pushed up to the highest point of the mountain where the key distribution (pen) will be.
All this will be under a simple method, but with scientific precision to be lasting and effective.
Also all of this will work by electrical energy. Therefore we will have an electrical cable of about two kilometers, which will provide the energy to the electric pumps.
PLEASE look at the pictures provided to see what I have accomplished on a small scale for these people. Any donation will be an excellent donation. It does not matter...$1, $5, $10, $15, $20, $50.... No amount is too big or too small. I know this can be done. There is a lot of need in this world and many great causes, but help me with this one cause so that these people to have this basic necessity.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
