Guatemala Stove Project 2024

In May of 2024 a team from CT Valley Orthodontics will be returning to Guatemala to build cookstoves & install water filtration tanks in multiple villages.

We are raising money to purchase ONIL cookstoves, water filtration tanks, and food for members of impoverished Guatemalan communities. With the purchase of these items, we are providing families with an opportunity for safer cooking methods and clean drinking water. This small change will drastically alter their lifestyles.

The current cooking methods include open fires within their homes which lead to severe burns, smoke inhalation and house fires. These cooking methods are the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 in Guatemala. These new cookstoves will provide them a safe alternative as well as a more sanitary means, allowing them to create more nutritional meals. They also only use 1/3 of the typical amount of wood burned in an open fire - an environmental benefit and also a time saver for the people in these communities.

All funds raised go directly to purchasing the ONIL cookstoves, water filtration tanks and food supplies and the team from CVO will personally be installing these and helping the people learn how to use and care for their new stove sand water filters.

A donation of $25.00 will buy a bag of food.

A donation of $45.00 will buy a water filtration tank.

A donation of $175 will purchase an entire cook-stove.
