[Be sure to scroll down to read the latest updates. ] At a loss for how to support our community during these awful and frightening times?
Not sure what you can do beyond keeping up with headlines, calling/writing Congresspeople, and attending protests?
Here’s an immediate action you can take:
Help provide weekly deliveries for at least 3 months of fresh produce and pantry staples for up to 20 local families (with young kids) who are experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship due to a family member’s immigration status, detention, or deportation.
I’m estimating the monthly cost to be around $1,800-2,000, so any amount you can spare once or on a recurring basis would be deeply appreciated and a signal to the recipients of solidarity. No judgement, we’re grateful for any support possible.
I am personally purchasing items at wholesale cost from local small businesses and coordinating with an organizer who is in contact with these families to distribute the food. Every penny will be spent on nutritious food for these families. I will provide ongoing accounting to all donors and any additional feedback the recipients share (anonymously of course).
If you prefer to donate non-perishable food items, please let me know, and I will pick them up from you.
