Emergency COVID Fund for Golden Harvest FoodPantry

Hi all. My name is Cristin. I am a nurse and I live in Bed Stuy Brooklyn with my husband Antonio, my absurdly cute baby Desi + 1 cat + 1 dog. I have lived in Bed- Stuy for close to a decade now! whoa!
Why I am here?
Because Lets DO SOMETHING. Because, I know myself and those around me can, can just sense, the overwhelming feeling right now of: it's too much , where do I even begin?? and my global answer is.. I have no idea.
So I thought why not start with what is literally right outside my window. And that is when I decided to set up this fundraiser.
Because this time won't last forever, And when we look back we can know we saw a need and we did what we could with what we had to fill it. That's how I hope to live and that's what I hope to share with our son one day, when he asks about this time.
So here is the story. Every day I walk my pup and I notice the line for this food pantry ( Golden Harvest, Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn ( see flyer) ) growing and growing, especially in the last few weeks. I see elderly people cobbling along, sometimes whole families or Mom's with young ones or tiny babies. Today I asked to speak with the manager. She came out rushed with hands full. I asked if they could use donations of money or food, she said either, both. I asked if they had enough food or if they were having to turn people away. She let me know they were having to turn people away daily..
Well, that just is not acceptable. I understand this is truly a hard time for EVERYONE in one way or another. I understand many have lost jobs and are afraid for their own needs and families. I just happened to believe that in giving, we do receive, and that a little bit goes a very long way when we join together. 1$ , 2$ , 5$ or pass it along to anyone that may be in a position to give. I believe the best of us is having a generous heart in the worst of times. You all can decide what that looks like and if you don't/cant give here just know you are valuable and your community supports you!
I will be sending this out to friend and family as well as Brooklyn parent/family groups that I am part of on FB. Once the money is raised I will be donating the cash directly to this organization , which is why this is set up to be private.
