Help Support Mattix Mattix is a bright, resilient, and loving 14-year-old who faces challenges most of us can hardly imagine. He was born with two mosaic SEMA6B gene variations and lives with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a rare and severe form of epilepsy. Despite his daily battles, he has an incredible spirit. He loves music, basketball, construction, lawn maintenance, and going out to eat. He is happiest when he’s out in the community or enjoying time with his family. But life has become harder in recent years. His seizures have been so severe that he has gone into status epilepticus, a life-threatening emergency. He has been honored as a Make-A-Wish child, and even served as the face of Make-A-Wish for an entire year, inspiring others with his bravery and smile. Now, at 14, his condition has begun to impact his mobility. He has a new wheelchair and leg braces, but he struggles daily with balance and coordination, causing frequent falls and injuries — even a punctured lung from one fall. Watching his independence slip away has been heartbreaking, but we remain committed to giving him the best quality of life possible.
