Help create an AIDS Free Generation
Donation protected
I
have recently been accepted to a year-long, internship with
Grassroot Soccer (GRS) in South Africa. GRS is a nonprofit
organization that uses the power of soccer to fight against HIV/AIDS. Founded
by former professional soccer players in 2002 and supported by organizations
such as The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNAIDS, Nike, The Ford
Foundation, and Sony, among many others, GRS trains African soccer stars,
coaches, teachers and peer educators in the world's most HIV-affected countries
to deliver an interactive HIV prevention and life skills curriculum to youth in
order to provide them with the knowledge, skills and support to live
HIV/AIDS-free. The vision of GRS is "A world mobilized through soccer to
create an AIDS Free Generation".
Grassroot Soccer does not provide ANY financial compensation to interns. Throughout the course of the internship, it is our own responsibility to source funding for airfare, transportation, required health insurance, meals, incidentals and other living expenses for a year in South Africa. Grassroot Soccer suggests that interns raise $10,000 to support themselves during their internship year.
Interns are an integral part of the GRS team and significantly help run the daily operations of the organization however as a non-profit they cannot afford to fund us so I am asking that you help make this year possible by making a donation. No matter the size of your donation "“ be it $1 or $1000 "“ I am appreciative of each and every gift as I seek to reach this goal.
I will keep you updated via social media and we look forward to showing you the impact of your contributions.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Claire
