Mission Statement, Friends of Saric Foundation

Friends of Saric is the 501c3 formed with the express purpose of raising donations for, providing strategic advice to and providing assistance to Manos Que Ayuda. Manos Que Ayuda is the non-profit organization located in Saric, Sonora with the mission of providing cultural and vital life-saving assistance to the community of Saric, Sonora.

Manos Que Ayuda has been formed to be the receiving entity and the entity that will retain ownership of the assistance provided by the Friends of Saric Foundation. For example, Manos Que Ayuda will be assuming ownership of the ambulance and defibrillator we have provided. This is important so that we can be confident that our help stays targeted on the Municipality of Saric and does not get siphoned off by other parts of government.

What are the needs right now? Coach Nido is working to realize his vison of putting on a running event (appropriate for a Cross County / Track coach) that will bring together community members and visitor of all ages in a positive and enriching way.

Here is Coach Nido’s message in his own words:

So, now to answer your question: How can you help? On Saturday, October 8, 2022, we are going to have a major race here in Saric. We are inviting young men and women from all over the state of Sonora, Mexico, and the U.S. to come and run in the first ever Saric Road Race. There will be a 1K race for elementary students, a 3K race for middle school students and a 5K race for high school age youth and an open 10K race for men and women. Running was what gave me the opportunity to achieve my dreams of a college education and to be a coach. Now I want to give back to the community where I started, my hometown of Saric.

What does it take to achieve this event? Two things: people who share the same vision and resources/money. Well, I have everyone excited about the races here in Saric. What we are in dire need of--are funds--we currently have no money. We have no timing system, no funds for awards, no funds for meeting management, etc. No funds for anything. All we have are "GANAS" (the will to work hard). I do not want to charge an entry fee. Young people cannot afford an entry fee. I would like the race to be a memorable experience for everyone who participates. And to open the door for next year for it to become a renowned and official race for any Olympic aspiring athletes.

Roxanna and I have come up with a budget to be able to promote and attract runners of Olympic material and caliber, it will cost approximately $4,500 plus. This is the amount of money we need to raise to ensure the race is a success. We have already begun the process and are hoping to move forward quickly. -Coach Nido
