For Ellie Lynch

When Ellie was born, she was diagnosed with a rare disorder that affected her genetics. Meaning she was missing a huge part of her chromosome, which caused problems in the way things developed in her body, like her airway, hands and feet not forming correctly.

At four weeks old, she had to undergo emergency surgery and have a Tracheostomy put in to keep her breathing as she wasn't able to do this for herself because of her airway not developing. After months of tests, it was discovered about the genetic disorder.
Ellie will need around the clock care for the foreseeable future until she can be reassessed when her body is more robust and has developed more. Doctors can then get a better picture of what they are dealing with.

In circumstances like Ellie's one parent must retire from work and become a full time carer leaving this family down to one salary,
Money raised will go towards future operations which potentially could be overseas, specialised home care, medical equipment,  ongoing occupational therapy, house renovations is also a must to adjust for Ellie's specialised bed, chairs and other hospital equipment. Investing in a suitable family vehicle that meets the requirements to facilitate all of Ellies medical equipment is also a necessity.
These are the known investments that lie ahead for this family, not to mention any unforeseen circumstances or complications that might arise at anytime.

Ellie is nearly 7 months old now, Sarah & Jason's (Ellie's Mam and Dad) dream as a family is to one day soon be able to leave the hospital with Ellie so she can meet all her family and friends, something they have dreamed about since she was born.
(After spending her first 8 months In hospital Ellie is now 10 months old and home with Mam and Dad, Ellie Still needs 24/7 care and is adjusting well to home life)

My name is John Edmonds, I am a FireFighter in Naas County Kildare,
Ellie's Father Jason is not only one of my best friends he is also a co. Firefighter here in Naas.
I came up with the idea of running the Dublin city marathon this October in complete firefighting kit, including BA (breathing apparatus) to raise money for Ellie. When i told Jason about this he was immediately on board. Now myself Jason and Leixlip station officer Ciaran Harrington will all be taking part this October.
This will be the conclusion of many fundraisers that will take part this year for Ellie, from fire station fundraising to hell and back, fire kit 5K's to name but a few. This will be a positive year for this family concluding with Ellie's father running a full marathon in his fire kit.
Let's all pull together and make a difference for this family and help make life as easy as possible for beautiful Ellie.
