A community of people came together after being inspired by a Whats App group called ‘Tony’s 35s’ who set up an account with a local butchers to provide meat for 10weeks to a group of volunteers who help tackle the homeless crisis, the elderly and people living in poverty. This group is called ‘Save our Homeless Dundalk’. They deliver food to 40+ families a week in the Dundalk area and rely solely on food donations from the public to put together these food packs. They are operating since December 2015.
The idea of THIS group is to complement that amazing gesture by 'Tony's 35s'and provide potatoes plus 3 different types of vegetables for their food packs for 10 weeks. We are asking for a ONE OFF donation to help us reach our target and be able to cover the cost of this Veg for 10 weeks. If we don’t reach our target we will provide these veg packs for as long as possible. If we exceed our target, we can do more than 10 weeks!
The cost per family per week for this veg is €4, with more than 40 families per week needing these deliveries. Therefore it will cost at least €160 per week for this initiative. We hope to raise enough money to provide these vegetables for 10 weeks - so the target is €1600. All of this veg will be ordered through, and delivered by, SuperValu Fairways to the 'Save our Homeless Dundalk' drop off point in Park Street Dundalk.
Please note that this is an initiative set up by community people to support and provide to 'Save our Homeless Dundalk', it is not run by 'Save our Homeless Dundalk' themselves. Food Donations are always welcome to this group of amazing volunteers and can be dropped to 'News and Deli', Park Street, Dundalk.
