Kearsing and Edwards American Legion Post 1600 is a 501(c)(19) Veterans Service Organization chartered through the national American Legion with a meeting hall located at 20 Station Road, Town of Ramapo, NY since 1950!
WE ARE REACHING OUT TO ALL OF OUR MEMBERS AND BROTHER/SISTER ORGANIZATIONS FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT TO HELP US PAY LEGAL EXPENSES TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST ENCROACHING HIGH DENSITY DEVELOPMENT THAT WILL FOREVER CHANGE THE SPECIAL CHARACTER OF THE POST 1600 MEETING HALL THAT WE ALL RELY UPON. PLEASE HELP SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS AND SHARE WIDELY.
Like all American Legion chapters our programs involve supporting our veteran members' and their families' needs. We maintain a community center with recreational grounds where veterans, policemen and other fraternal organizations sustain our mutual community connections.

Today the Post 1600 Meeting Hall is surrounded by trees and open space with golf course to the west, with the County of Rockland Mount Ivy Park to the North, and the Town of Ramapo ballfield to the East providing a green haven for our members to meet and share time with one another, their families, and their guests.
What is the Problem?
- The Minisceongo Golf Course in Pomona NY was sold to a developer who asked the Town to rezone the property from 2 acres per single family home to a mixed use, multi family development complex with retail stores and hotels at more than ten times (1,000%) the density.
- Post 1600 doesn't oppose development near by on this large site but there is ample room to hide the bulk of the development from the Post 1600 meeting hall and the public parkland entrance.
- We don't want hills of multifamily barrack buildings replacing the entirety of the forested hills along the walking path into Mount Ivy park - which is all that separates our land from the new development - destroying the rural solitude of our picnic grounds, firing range and pavilion areas.
- Like all of our neighbors we did not receive legally required notices of public hearings.
- The Town irrationally refused to do an environmental impact statement for the site plan for the largest and most impactful project in all of Rockland County and even consider any site plan alternatives that would not destroy Post 1600.
- Post 1600 was denied the opportunity to advocate for rezoning alternatives to reduce the impacts to our meeting hall that all of you use and rely upon.
- We are raising money needed for legal representation. PLEASE HELP US TODAY.
