Swimming to help kids needing support

What am I doing?

I am setting myself two very different challenges: one swimming 1,000 x 25m lengths of a swimming pool (25 km / 15.5 miles). The other is taking part in The Great North Swim 2014, Windermere.

1,000 x 25m pool lengths - Wednesday 7th May 2014
I'm not particularly a great swimmer, I can't even do front crawl properly as I tend to prefer swimming breaststroke for fitness reasons. I have set myself a massive target here which I'm going to need to train heavily for.

Great North Swim 2014, Windermere - Saturday 14th June 2014
I've never done an outdoor swim before and the thought of swimming a mile in open, cold, deep water terrifies me. But I am setting myself this unique challenge, very different to the endurance challenge, as a test of overcoming my fears. Again, a lot of training will be needed.

The Two Charities
I am swimming for two charities Daytrippers Bolton
and Kidz2gether as they are two fantastic charities which support children and families in a variety of important fantastic and ways.

They have both been instrumental in supporting my own family members and those I work with in my various voluntary roles.

Daytrippers Bolton is a parent and carer led registered charity that provides days out and activities for disabled children and their families.

Kidz2gether support and introduce children and young people between the ages of 5 and 16, within mainstream education who have social and/or communication difficulties (autistic spectrum disorders) into inclusive social settings. They do this by planning and managing specially created groups & clubs and support the families of these children and young people.

Please please please give a little of what you can to these fantastic charities. These challenges are going to absolutely kill me and any donations no matter how small or large will be a MASSIVE encouragement to spur me on.
