Help Us Open the Community Clothes Cycle Shop in Chelmsford

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read our story.

We are Amanda, Charlotte, and the team behind Roots of Hope CIC, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people recovering from trauma and mental health challenges.

Over the past year, we have developed our first project, the Community Clothes Cycle, which provides donated clothing to patients on acute mental health wards across Chelmsford and surrounding hospitals within EPUT.

Many patients are admitted unexpectedly and often arrive with very few belongings. Through the generosity of our local community, we collect, sort, and distribute pre-loved clothing to help provide comfort, dignity, and a sense of care during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

The response has been overwhelming, and we have already seen the difference this simple act of kindness can make. However, demand for the service continues to grow, and we now have an exciting opportunity to take the project to the next level.

We have been offered a space at the Crystal Centre in Chelmsford, where we hope to establish a dedicated Community Clothes Cycle shop and community hub. This space will allow us to safely store donations, organise clothing more efficiently, support more people in need, and create a sustainable base for the project's future.

To make this happen, we need your help.

The funds raised will go towards:

• Setting up the Community Clothes Cycle shop at the Crystal Centre, Chelmsford

• Essential fixtures, storage, and equipment

• Running costs to keep the service operating

• Purchasing items that are rarely donated but are urgently needed, including larger-sized clothing, shoes, socks, and brand-new underwear

• Supporting the continued delivery of clothing to mental health in-patients across Essex

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us provide practical support, dignity, and hope to people at a vulnerable point in their lives.
