104 year old local Grandma and Daughter lose home

Donation protected
A fire broke out on Tuesday at their home in the French Quarter, which was built in the early 1900s by their grandfather Francesco Di Rosa and great grandfather Giuseppe Di Rosa who immigrated from Villafranca in Sicily to New Orleans in the 1880’s.
Francesco’s now 104 year old daughter Anna Maria Di Rosa married Angelo Mariano in 1942.
The Marianos have given their lives giving to others and now need a little help. All your donations will be applied to rebuild their home. We ask you to open your hearts for one of your own.

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the fire started at the 700 block of Barracks Street near Esplanade Avenue and Royal around 8:40 am. There was smoke inhalation and 2nd-3rd degree burns suffered by both mother and daughter. The source of the fire was near Mrs. Mariano's bed, and it was due to a short in the electrical system. All the mothers and brothers of which there were 5 were born in this home. Your help and money are needed to restore this New Orleans home to the dignity it had. The 104-year-old grandmother lived through 2 world wars and the depression in the thirties always lending a helping hand and deserves some assistance to live normally in the neighborhood with so many memories.
