Jaylene found her passion during her hospitalizations for mental health care. She has learned what coping skills work for her and she would like to share this about her journey.
This is her voice "Through my mental health story, I found diamond art. it's a very relaxing coping skill, and it requires a lot of patience. even when you have a disability, that doesn't mean you can't follow your passion. you're never alone in mental struggles, no matter if it's big or small. sometimes we all go through the same things but different times."
Jaylene's Mother's Voice: "Jaylene’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Jaylene has several mental health diagnoses and learning disabilities. She is receiving mental health care, has an IEP and is accomplishing a huge goal of graduating high school this year. Jaylene attends an online school due to being bullied in her previous brick and mortar school district. Kids used to call her names, throw things at her and even put a dead worm from the rain in her hair while she was walking into school. As her mom, I am most proud of my daughter's resilience and continuing to be a kind soul to others despite the way other's treated her.
She previously had a goal of spreading kindness on social media and reducing bullying, but in 2020, the pandemic brought a mental health crisis that made it difficult for her to fulfill her mission. After seven years of focusing on her mental health and self-care, Jaylene is ready to begin a new journey. She is graduating this year, planning on entering the field of professional makeup and just got her driver's permit. Jaylene has extreme social anxiety, but she wants to fight through that to arrange local food drives to support local food banks. She has always shown compassion and empathy for others in need. I am so grateful for this opportunity to share her heart with the world, but we desperately need your support for fundraising. Jaylene also wants to share her mental health journey and hopes to inspire others to seek support and minimize the stigmas. She has found her passion in diamond art and uses this as her main coping skill. Her art is stunning!"
Funds raised will go towards community outreach, food drive organization, advertising materials and travel expenses as she shares her message of empowerment around the world.
Thank you so much! It really does take a village. You donations shows my daughter that people care and acknowledge the challenges she has overcome in her life to become the incredibly inspiring teen she is today! From the bottom of my heart, as a mother with a child who has mental health issues, trust me when I say that this is a battle she fights everyday in her head! Your support means more then you will ever know and truly is her motivation! Jaylene is partnering with local food banks and will be featured as a local "Rebel Girl" (girls who beyond all odds persevere and change the world) in a local library adolescent group, sharing her journey and advice to "never give up".
