My name is Ryan and it breaks my heart to share that my beautiful wife, Emily‑Jane Scandrett (known to so many as Emj), sadly passed away on 19th January 2026. Despite her fight and sheer determination, she lost her long hard battle against the cruel rare cancer Mesothelioma [caused by deadly asbestos].
She was the centre of our world, the brightest light in every room, the most devoted wife and mother to Frank and Tommy, also step‑mum to Lilly‑Mae. Losing her has left an empty void in our lives that can never be filled.
Emily‑Jane was kind, funny, fiercely loving and endlessly generous. She gave everything she had to the people she cared about, especially our children. They were her pride, her joy and her purpose.
So many friends, family members and people in the community have reached out asking how they can help or honour her memory. After a lot of thought, I’ve created this Memorial Fund for Emily‑Jane as a way for anyone who wishes to support her legacy.
Funds will help towards continuing Emily‑Jane’s efforts to raise awareness about "Mesothelioma", something she cared deeply about. We will endeavour to support those who have been diagnosed or affected and the charities/organisations that offer invaluable support to families like ours.
We would also like to create lasting memories in her honour. This may include a memorial bench or a tree, perhaps in Kingsbury Water Park - somewhere special that our children, family and friends can visit and feel close to Emily-Jane.
We’ll also be arranging charity events in Emily‑Jane’s name. First up, we’re thinking a large charity walk in Summer 2026, with more details to follow.
The Emily-Jane Scandrett Memorial Fund is all about honouring her dedicated commitment and continuing to campaign to raise awareness whilst supporting others, just as she always did. Making sure our young children feel her love in every milestone, every memory and every moment she should have been here for.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, your support and for helping us honour the incredible woman that Emily‑Jane was. Your generosity means more than words can ever express xxx
