As beautiful and lush as the garden grows the chain link fence has always been a haven for aggressive weeds and takes away from the natural beauty of the space. Since the beginning of the farm, we always wanted to replace the chainlink, but we needed to invest in the farming and community building that makes it so special. But now we are ready to put what we feel is the final touch on the farm and install a beautiful new fence.
With the new style of fence it will be easy to see into the garden and will be constructed of nice and sturdy metal that we can keep free of vines. It will be installed by a contractor who has worked on many community projects in our neighborhood. We have our quote and our contractor is ready to do the work, so we would love to raise these funds and get the fence installed before the growing season starts in April.
Over 10 years so many hands have invested into the growth of the farm through our weekly farm workdays, music shows, movie nights, potlucks and workshops. This fence will be the perfect finishing touch to that 10 years of work and will get us ready for 10 more. We thank everyone who has supported the farm over the years and are so grateful for the continued support to make Emerald St. Community Farm such a special place in East Kensington.
As we always say, Love is in the Veggies, come grow with us!
