El Paso County Historical Society

Donation protected
UPDATE: Since our initial announcement on GoFundMe, we have received a pledge for matching funds, up to $10,000, from the Estate of Maxie Groce Templeton. Mrs. Templeton is a recently deceased philanthropist from San Antonio, Texas, who was the widow of Arleigh B. Templeton, a distinguished Texas educator and a former President of The University of Texas at El Paso from 1972 to 1980. This generous gift is offered in honor of Nancy Hamilton, a previous Editor of our publication, "Password," and "Hall of Honor" inductee.

The El Paso County Historical Society was established in 1954. Since that time we have continued to amass a collection of photos, documents, maps, books and other items about the history of El Paso and the surrounding area.

We have approximately 20,000 photos digitized and ready to share with all of you. We also have our scholarly publication, "Password," which has been produced on a quarterly basis since 1956.  Click here to view our "Password" index. However, before we can make all of this available, we need a website and software upgrade.

Please donate if you can! This is a tremendous opportunity to help us preserve history, foster research, and bring our amazing history to life!
