Community volunteers have formed a new, grassroots residents’ association — the East End Village Residents Association (EEVRA).
Our ambition is simple: to give locals a collective voice that works with Barnet Council to solve problems, enhance quality of life, improve public spaces, and champion the area’s future.
Starting with a few pilot streets west of the Northern Line between Church Lane, Hamilton Road and East End Road, we plan to represent a broader footprint by the end of 2026, building a clear line of communication between residents, the wider community & Barnet Council.
WHAT YOUR DONATIONS CONTRIBUTE TO
• Professional Fees for the protection of Manor Park
The community were successful in early 2026 in challenging the loss of this public land for the development of private housing. Together, we demonstrated to Barnet Council, the value to residents and the importance of the space to the community - both the pocket park and car park. The EEVRA committee commissioned planning consultants and parking, transport and traffic experts to produce reports and register a Certificate of Lawfulness (Existing Use) on the public space. We have a small amount outstanding to recoup these costs.
• Friends of Manor Park
An 'Adopt a Place' application has been approved, to enable us to work with Barnet Council's Parks Team to improve and maintain the space for broader community use. Your donations will help support planting and minor enhancements (painting the benches for example) or other costs that the local council's budgets cannot or does not cover.
We have also issued and shared, in collaboration with the residents association's members and contributors, a proposal full of ambitions for further community uses of the park - from social events, health, wellness and play activities for all ages and abilities. These will require some outlay of costs when we cannot secure funding or donations-in-kind through other means.
• Running costs of the residents association
This includes day-to-day outlay, such as public meeting/venue hire costs, leaflet and poster printing, costs of running and maintaining a website and other communications tools and other small costs that we cannot secure as a donation-in-kind.
We have met and worked with many local businesses who have provided plants, equipment and goods for free and will continue to do so. Along with your contributions and donations we have made a great start and are committed to continuing these efforts long into the future.
Please donate, to fund the residents association's activities and community projects. More about these can be found on our website. You can reach us via the contacts page.
Thank you all for your engagement, input and donations - large or small - every penny is much appreciated.
