Lets talk Mental health and suicide!!

I'll be honest I've had a few mental battles in the last year or so but I'm pretty resilient and have amazing people around me so I won't pretend that it wasn't anything I couldn't cope with, however!

There are so many people that don't have the support or feel trapped and nowhere to go. As I was planning this jump I wanted to do it for charity and can think of no better cause than Mysterious Minds.

Unfortunately In the last few years sadly 2 people in my social or work circles have taken the decision that life was just too much for them. The most recent was late 2025, a young man in his early 30's that was part of a working group I sponsor decided he couldn't carry on. Unfortunately it is becoming a common story among young adults and in particular men. I don't want to dwell on the details of who but to say that this work colleague used to fund raise for Mysterious Minds and therefore I see not better charity to raise money for. Support for mental health is needed more than ever to prevent such heartbreaking stories that we see all over the UK.

About Mysterious Minds

Mysterious Minds is a local foundation in Hull and East Riding that supports families that have lost a loved one to suicide. Mysterious Minds was founded by Chelsey Dalee and Leona Dalee in 2017 after losing Chelsey’s child’s dad and former partner, Jamie Swallow, to suicide. In 2020 Dawn Stansfield joined the team after losing her daughter Mollie to suicide and wanting to give back to the foundation after they donated towards Mollie’s funeral. For the first 4 years Mysterious minds functioned as a foundation but are now registered as a charity. Charity Number: 1205541
