Hi Everyone,
My name is Duggie. I am on a HUGE mission to raise awareness about the dangers of the herbicide glyphosate, most famously known as Round Up.
I have stage 4 bowel cancer which my surgeon strongly linked to an acute exposure I experienced just 14 months prior to diagnosis. I have taken a serious deep dive down this rabbit hole and have realised that it is not acute exposures to this chemical that are responsible for the increase in disease but the chronic exposure that we all experience in our everyday lives. Glyphosate's persistence and pervasiveness is hard to fathom and is unfortunately only increasing.
As our social media has grown and my knowledge base expanded, I have found myself in a pretty unique position where I have an opportunity to make change in the way we use and view glyphosate.
AND I am extremely determined to do this.
It has given me so much purpose and it is a way that I want to 'pay it forward' to all you people who supported me in the scary times when first diagnosed. I will never forget that. I also believe we owe it to our children and the other people who will inhabit this beautiful place once we're gone.
I have two young kids and run my own vineyard and wine production business. So I am a little time poor.
I am asking for donations to assist with this mission so it can free me up to really sink my teeth in.
I have started the STOKE CLAN (Please join up if you haven't already) which is going to be a place where like-minded community focussed folks can come together about this issue. It will give a lot more detail on the actual tasks I am implementing to make change but some are as follows:
- Approaching councils
- Educational website
- Letterbox drops with educational pamphlets (old school)
- Linking consumers and glyphosate free products
- Riding a horse to Canberra to approach politicians
- Working with other cancer patients
- Warning signage for areas sprayed
- Launching glyphosate podcast in 2 weeks
- Farming regeneratively
- Product testing and education
- Breast milk testing for mothers
- Bowel cancer patient blood testing (later this year)
- more........it will be an evolving beast.
I can not un-see what I have now seen and I am far too passionate about it to stop researching and raising awareness.
I guess I am asking you to trust me until given a reason not to and I am promising to make sure your donation is very well spent. I'm fired up!
So please consider donating, even if it is a small monthly bit it will all add up, and please know that I will be eternally grateful for the support.
Yours
Duggie
