Due to the rapid massive spread of COVID-19, FTC Team Apollo has decided to help the people who need it the most. Doctors and nurses around the country risk their lives to help patients due to the lack of available face shields. As a robotics team with quick access to existing 3d printers, we decided to help by 3d printing these face shields.
Furthermore, essential workers and low-income families are exposed to a higher risk of catching COVID-19 due to the lack of face masks. To help solve this problem, we are reaching out to airport security workers as well as vendors at farmers’ markets that keep crucial transportation possible and supply the nation with food.
We are planning to implement a mask-ordering system where anyone who is an essential worker or low-income can receive free masks.
However, the cost of materials is high, and the cost of new printers even higher. With long print times, we need as many printers as possible and enough filament to keep our printers running so that we can create enough face shields. At the same time, we need your funding to keep up with the demand for face masks among the essential worker community.
That’s where you step in. Your generous donation will go straight into buying new printers and filament so that we can produce as many face shields as possible during this time of crisis. You will also support us in supplying disposable cloth masks to the people who are at the greatest risk of catching the disease.
Who will benefit?
Through your donations, you will reinforce the safety of local doctors and nurses who are making sure that people who are in critical condition stay safe in turn. Your hard-earned dollars will also go towards supplying essential workers and low-income families with the necessary safety equipment during this time of crisis.
