I wrapped production this winter on my first professional short film, DOLORES. Finishing this film is me keeping a promise to my younger self to become a filmmaker that tells the stories of the people around me, stories that are often untold or overlooked.

DOLORES is a human story about love and what broken systems do to a family and community. It's inspired by my time in politics, where I saw families split apart by policies and paperwork. With everything happening today, it felt like it's time to tell those stories through the medium I’ve loved my whole life: filmmaking.

The film is shot and currently being edited. Now I can use some help to finish post, because as many artists can tell you, it gets expensive....

Your donation directly supports the freelance artists helping me with this project—colorist, sound designer, and finishing editor—and covers:

1. Color grading (to make the visuals pop)

2. Sound design & mix (dialogue cleanup, FX, score)

3. Final deliverables (captions, DCP, festival exports)

4. Festival submission fees to get the film seen

Why this matters beyond this short film: Anything raised above the goal will seed my second short (based on a feature I’ve been writing for years).
