Support Norwood, NJ's First Diwali Celebration

Donation protected
The idea for "Diwali in Norwood" began in 2022 when our family attended our town's "Christmas Tree Lighting" followed by the town "Menorah Lighting." My then 5 year old son asked why the town didn't have a "Diwali Diya Lighting." This was the inspiration behind Diwali in Norwood!

Guests will enjoy a fully-immersive, kid-focused, family-focused experience! This event is free to attend and open to all!

The vision for "Diwali in Norwood" is to create a space where parents can attend with their children and families can be transported to India right here in Norwood, NJ.

This is not like every other Diwali event as it will focus on cultural immersion at a kid-friendly level where parents too can enjoy! Think of it as the "Bluey" of kid events (lol).

This event is free to enter and open to all.

Guests will enjoy a fully-immersive, kid-focused, family-focused experience!

MANJAL AND MORINGA restaurants are calling all Foodies
Enjoy North and South Indian food including a LIVE FOOD station. Whether you're a huge fan of Indian food, or this will be your first time, Diwali in Norwood has curated the perfect menu! No! Not all Indian food is curry-based. No! Not all Indian food is spicy. Since this entire event is kid-friendly, the food will not be spicy! For those needing a little spice in their life, we definitely have chutney....

ART MANTRA is calling all Art Enthusiasts
Shantala Kaikini of ART MANTRA will showcase her art which highlights styles from around India.
PLUS: Guests will also have the opportunity to dabble and make their own artistic creation at the ART MANTRA station
which will be a beautiful souvenir from the first Diwali in Norwood.

TAAL DANCE STUDIO is calling all Dancers
(and those that want to dance....or think they can dance!)
Urmi Kalsaria will teach everyone at Diwali in Norwood how to dance various styles of dance including
bhangara, dandia ... and even BOLLYWOOD!
And after you learn a few steps, go enjoy a Mango Lassi back at the Manjal food station. :)

HENNA STATION
Stop by our Henna station and be adorned with a beautiful and temporary tattoo design on your hands or feet.
Stay tuned as we showcase potential designs!
"MAKE YOUR OWN RANGOLI" STATION
Rangolis are beautiful mandala-like designs that people use to decorate their homes.
They are often placed in driveways or foyers so that as guests enter your home, they feel welcomed.
At this station, guests will get artsy and make their own rangolis.

"DESIGN YOUR OWN DIYA" STATION
Diya means "light" or "candle"
On Diwali, people who celebrate will light up their driveway and their houses.
This is quite similar to celebrating Christmas with Christmas lights or Hanukah with a menorah.
At this station, guests will have the opportunity to decorate a diya to take home.

"MAHARAJA AND MAHARANI PHOTO BOOTH" STATION
Stop by the photo booth and dress up like Indian Royalty to commemorate this special occasion!!

Money raised through this fundraiser will be used for event-related costs only.

We need money to pay for things such as chairs, tables, event marketing. We will also use the funds to buy the arts and crafts items for the kids booths mentioned above.
