Help Dina’s family survive displacement from their homeland

Hello, my name is Erica from the United States and I’m starting this fundraiser is for my friend Dina Moneer and her family from Gaza who now have been displaced to Egypt. Here are her words:

“My name is Dina. Before the war, my job was doing handicrafts from inside my house in addition to taking care of my children, and my husband Yahya worked as a shawarma seller. Our three children, Rateel, Zakaria, and Hassan, are the joy of our life, and we were working on moving into our own home in Gaza. Before it was finished, the war started, and everything was destroyed.

Before the war, the kids were diligent in their studies, and they memorized the Qur’an. The war destroyed all of this. We were displaced from our home in Gaza City due to the intensity of the bombing, to Rafah in the South, to live inside a tent. The rooms were very hot, like saunas. The insects and flies were always around us, allowing for little relaxation outside of the sounds of the bombs. I had pain in my spine due to sleeping on the ground, which normally would have required a trip to the doctor. However, due to the bombing of hospitals, we had no choice but to try to leave to get basic medical care.

We spent all of our life savings that was meant to build our life together in Gaza City, and managed to get our family to Egypt through Rafah, and acquire passports. However, it is still very difficult to live. We are not allowed any benefits from the Egyptian government, and it’s difficult to get work as a Palestinian in Egypt.

There is much to say about my suffering, but there are no letters or words to describe it accurately. I wish I did not exist in this world. I live with the constant reminders of injustice and oppression, and this is also the case for my children. Do they deserve this suffering because they were born as Palestinians?

Please help us live and thrive and build a life outside of injustice, war, and violence.”

These funds will be used for food, hydration, housing costs, medication, personal hygiene items, and anything else required to maintain the health and safety of any and all of the family members.
