This year I'll be attempting to run 200 miles through the Sahara Desert for suicide prevention. After losing my father Colm Quigley, my life was changed.
I’ve come to believe that true mental health support goes far beyond just talking about our struggles. It’s a whole-person approach. It’s being part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s learning the tools to help not just ourselves, but each other.
Getting young people active, giving them the qualifications and confidence to support others. It’s all connected. The body affects the mind.
~Since the beginning of this journey we have had 16000 people access the lighthouse project database in search of local help and support
~We've helped fund over 500 councilling sessions in our local community
~We've helped fund and introduce over 700 children and adults into sporting programmes aiding their mental and physical health
~We've helped fund and educate over 200 teenagers in mental health training at OCN level-2
This 200-mile challenge is going to be a real struggle. I've set this goal with a lot of nervousness. If it was easy, then would it really be a challenge? However, it will show that life is tough, but it will remind people that they’re never alone. With that said, any support out there will be greatly appreciated.
Official dates, to be confirmed. You can follow my training journey and how I plan on preparing for this challenge on my stories on my socials.
