HELP OUR HELPERS - Please support the First-Responder and Volunteer Support Fund
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers—so many caring people in this world." - Mr. Rogers
We started this campaign a week ago to initially address food needs for LAUSD and to support Red Cross volunteers on the ground. Since then, the need has grown and continues to grow exponentially all around our city. We see the suffering from so many small businesses, at-risk children and food insecure families, elderly veterans, first responders, medical professionals, the enormous homeless population, our neighbors and our own staff at Food Love and Freshlunches that have been adversely affected by the loss of income during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This fund is created to help first responders and volunteers on the front lines. Please continue your donation so that we can share your generosity and continue to provide basic safe fresh and healthy meals to our city helpers.
For the week of 3/24 - We will be creating meals for one of our most at-risk communities - Elderly Veterans thru Village for Vets.

The original call to action from last week:
In these uncertain times, we know that people are scrambling to stockpile their pantries with future essentials. As the second largest school district in the nation, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) feeds over half a million children per day and for some this is their only meal. There are hundreds of people on the ground supporting LAUSD’s effort to feed children in need. The city is coordinating with LAUSD to open 40 Family Centers for their food distribution program beginning Wednesday, March 18.
Freshlunches has partnered with LAEPF and the American Red Cross to provide lunch and dinner to hundreds of volunteers daily. This is not a small ask. We need your support to raise $24,000 per week. Your generosity will also help to provide much needed work to our employees so they can support their families.
Please consider helping and join us by donating to our COVID Emergency Responder & Volunteer Support Fund today.
In gratitude,
Team Freshlunches and Friends
XOXOXO
