A companion for Gennavisia
Donation protected
Gennavisia (Genna) is a loveable and active five year old little girl with an outgoing spirit and a contagious smile. At first glance, she appears just like any other little girl from the outside. However, in just a little while, you'll notice that Genna struggles to fit in and communicate her wants and needs. She not only has difficulty following commands, she has no sense of danger and is prone to wandering. This is because Genna has autism.
As Gennavisia's mom I see each day that she is always at risk. There has been several times in which Genna bolted from me or others caring for her and immediately ran toward the street or towards danger. As with many children with autism, Genna is drawn to water and moving cars. Despite her daily challenges, Genna is a promblem-solver and an inquisitive person, making her an excellent escape artist! As a result, someone must be holding on to Genna to ensure her safety. So with this factor we never rest physically or emotionally and Genna doesn't get to have the independence that every little little girl deserves.
After many tears and much research we have decided to get Genna a companion to help her gain that independence safely. While tethered to the autism service dog, Genna will be able to walk alone, giving her that needed independence. Genna's service dog will protect her from running off and will be able to relieve her anxiety by applying deep pressure upon command. An added blessing is the companionship that the dog will provide Genna, who struggles to make connections with other people.
The cost of training a dog for almost two years to become a certified service dog, who will accompany Genna everywhere, is about $15,000. We can't start the process with out raising the money for the cost of the dog and training cost. Please join me in raising the money to bless Genna with a life-changing companion/service dog.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide or information provided,
