We’ve come this far without a facility of our own — now imagine what we could do with one.

South Shore Lightning Basketball is a registered non-profit organization serving youth and families across Nova Scotia’s South Shore. For years, we’ve been helping young athletes grow in confidence, character, and skill — all while juggling limited gym time and rising demand for programming.

But as school gyms increasingly restrict access to outside groups and other programs compete for the same limited space, it’s becoming more and more difficult to run the high-quality, inclusive programming our community deserves.

That’s why we’re launching this GoFundMe campaign — to raise $350,000 to build a dedicated basketball facility that will also serve as a multi-use space for a wide range of community activities and programs.

This is more than a gym — it’s a community hub in the making, and we need your help to bring it to life.

What This Facility Will Do:

Provide consistent, year-round access for practices, training, and league play

Offer a safe, inclusive space for youth to grow on and off the court

Host tournaments, camps, and events that energize our region

Collaborate with local groups to deliver recreation, wellness, and community programming for all ages

We are actively working with local organizations to ensure this facility supports everyone — from young athletes and families to seniors, newcomers, and wellness groups.
