Because of the ICE raids in our Minneapolis community, many do not feel safe going to school, work, grocery stores, or accessing healthcare. Columbia Heights families have been particularly targeted and have taken shelter with neighbors or haven’t left their homes in days or weeks. This is the community where sweet 5-year-old Liam Canejo Ramos and 3 other students have been detained from.
These families have been ripped apart; either one or both parents have been detained, leaving kids frightened. This fund will go towards resources to help keep families together and reunite families who have been torn apart.
This is a fully volunteer-led effort and all funds will be used to directly meet urgent needs of these families. In particular, funding will be prioritized toward:
- Rent and utilities
- Food and medications
- Travel assistance to reunite kids with their parents
When you give to the Columbia Heights Mutual Aid Fund, you will help families feel some relief, dignity, and stability when needed most. Every contribution, no matter the size, ensures these families feel the love and support of their community.
Thank you for your incredible generosity.
