Christmas For Machua, Bolivia 2022

I'm raising money to help children in a community of La Paz called Machua, with over 200 children where they have limited access to education, it is a great opportunity for me to help and give them what any children in the world should have, a great and at least a Christmas gift. My name is Luis, I’m a football lover born in Bolivia and currently living in London. The story I'm about to share as part of my adventures in Bolivia helping the children of Machua, a small community located in the north of La Paz.

My childhood has some bad memories, as my father abandoned us when I was a child. During those years (the 80’s), my Mum had to take the role of dad, mother, brother and sister. She is my hero. ✨ Our plan for Dec 2022 creates another Christmas events where children will receive gifts, entertainment, materials for education, food, and many more. Some activities and workshops such as football tournaments in many categories (girls, boys, youth) ☺️ I'm currently living in London and the way I help is sending money and organising everything by myself, I just found out this platform and I would like to support in this way and make aware to my friends about it. My goal reach is 2023 £ (equivalent to 17,000 Pesos Bolivianos) and this will be used for the campaign and the rest of the items such as food, clothing, first aid, football equipment and many more.

My Reasons: One of the main reasons we have been working and preparing for this journey is the belief in happiness that every child in the world deserves, the love from a parent’s hug or a decent present for Christmas. My mum and I shared that belief and we thought it would be perfect to return home and try to achieve something for the village we grew up in. A year ago, I had organised something similar in another city but on a smaller scale and with less preparation. Today, children there are still living in bad conditions and parents are struggling to put their kids through school for many reasons. Many children in Machua do not have access to primary education, or even access to hospitals in case of emergencies so we wanted to do our best to bring a small glimmer of happiness to them if we could.

The second reason was that due to the situation in La Paz in Oct 2019, most communities around the capital have been affected by political issues. Therefore, it had been increasing the levels of poverty in the rest of the small villages nearby including Machua. This damaged the city with many protesters setting fire to electoral offices across the country and led to many injuries and deaths. For us, it just reinforced our ambition to bring happier moments to the village during a very difficult time.
