Christabelle's Mission with Mercy Ships

Donation protected

What am I doing?

I am volunteering with Mercy Ships on board Africa Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental floating hospital for three months as a ‘Hostess’.

2019 sees Africa Mercy in Senegal a where I will be for three months, from July to September.

I will be part of a team with the responsibility for welcoming arriving crew and guests on board the vessel. I will also give guided ship tours, prepare accommodations, and host all the special events.

Where is Senegal?

Senegal is a French speaking country on Africa’s west coast with a rich French colonial heritage and many natural attractions.  The capital is Dakar which is where Africa Mercy will be berthed.

Who  is Mercy Ships?

Mercy Ships is a faith-based international development organisation that deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need.  In addition, they leave a legacy by training medical personnel in their field of expertise and provide local people with skills by employing them in certain areas on the vessel.

Why AM I Going?

In response to the word of God and I have really wanted to work with an organisation like Mercy Ships for a long time.  I am grateful for being able to take up this amazing opportunity with the support of the UK Hydrographic Office, who have granted me three months unpaid leave of absence from work, allowing me to give back to those in desperate need of medical support and in a marine environment!

I know there will be sacrifices on my part and challenges ahead, but I am not afraid of change or hard work.

One of the most challenging part is raising the funds to cover costs such as Crew Fees, Travel, Insurance, Vaccines, and the usual living expenses.

Your support will be gratefully welcomed and received, allowing me to contribute to the amazing work being done on board Africa Mercy, providing surgeries to those in need, changing lives one at a time and leaving a legacy for the Senegal.  YOU are helping Mercy Ships to support the hospitality team provide a service to the medical crew performing surgical procedures.

I am here! Thank yo for your supporting me and making this mission trip possible! I am excited and look forward to serving others.
