Support Charles' Journey to a New Kidney
Donation protected
My husband Charles has been dealing with several health issues for the last 8 years or so and has been disabled for the last 5 and a half.
One of those health issues is End Stage Renal Disease, and he has been on dialysis for the last 3 years. He is now at the stage of qualifying for a kidney transplant, and we are beginning the journey of locating a donor. It has been a very long and difficult road to get here, and we couldn’t be more excited—but also scared, nervous, anxious, stressed—all the feelings!!
The Transplant clinic has advised us of some very significant out-of-pocket costs and suggested we start fundraising for those expenses right away, so here we are asking for help from friends, family, and strangers. There is no way we can cover these costs on our own.
All funds raised will go towards:
- Gas and tolls for pre and post-transplant appointments
- Lodging for when I need to stay close by to the hospital after the transplant
- The out-of-pocket costs of immunotherapy medications pre and post-transplant
- The 20% co-insurance cost left over from Medicare
- Lost wages for any time I have to take off from work for the transplant and post-transplant care-taking
We appreciate any help and support we are given and are seeking other fundraising opportunities if anyone is able to help with that.
