Hi, my name is Jasmine Clay, I'm 14 years old and I've been given an amazing opportunity to spend 4 weeks volunteering in Cambodia in 2024.
During my time out there, I'll be heavily involved in vital project work to support local communities in need, helping to improve their lifestyle and living conditions, protecting their environment and conserving the local wildlife. I will play an active part in a number of projects which will create long-lasting positive impacts:
- building school kitchens (as this often provides the only meal a child will eat that day)
- community toilet block installations (reducing hygiene and healthcare issues)
- building kindergartens (helping to improve early years education)
- supporting the English teacher with English lessons for local children
- making large water storage pots and distributing them to villages to enable them to store as much rainwater as possible (this will help villages survive the long dry seasons)
- building wells to provide drinking water and water for irrigation to ensure a reliable source of essential food
- making chicken coops to enable families to raise chickens to supplement their food and to provide a source of income
- reforestation programmes (helping to provide communities with crops of their own)
This will be an incredible experience, but first I must raise £4580 for the trip. I plan to run a number of fundraising events to help with this worthy cause and I'd be so grateful for any money you can donate. Thank you!
