Kellen & Kelsie go to camp

Donation protected
While growing up someone sponsored my trips to Camp Weed every summer. The trips were integral part of my spirituality as I grew.  The love I felt at Camp Weed was my reason for believing that God loved & accepted me.  This year there are 2 children who I love, (Kellen & Kelcie) who I would like to afford this experience.

Kelcie Wolfe (Female, 12 years) is smart, engaging, does well in school and cares for her brother.  Kellen Wolfe (Male, 10 years) is thoughtful, inquisitive, tough and wants to be good boy.  Both kids are seeking love and affection.  Their Mom was killed in a car accident 4 years ago and their Dad is incarcerated in Jacksonville for 10 more months.  They live in Lake City between 2 grandparents’ houses.  I have good communication with Grandfather and he is very interested in sending Kellen & Kelsey to camp.  He is arranging to get their health checks and to help with transportation.

I play a big sister roll in their life and support them where I can.  We were neighbors during the year after their Mom’s death.  During this year they spent time at my house and we formed friendships.  I keep up with Kellen & Kelcie and try to spend time with them quarterly where we shop for clothes, essentials and toys.

When eating at McDonalds they offer to share to save  money.  They voice concern about prices and their concerns that I don’t spend too much money on them.

They questioned what it means when I say I love them.  When asked about their Grandma’s love for them Kellen says “I think she likes me a lot because she lets us stay with her”.

Kellen & Kelsey will need clean, appropriate clothes to wear to camp. I have made a list of items that they need below.  Right now all of their clothes do not fit or are stained, ripped or are borrowed from adults.

Last summer the kids and I went to the store with Kellen barefoot because he had no shoes.  It was his plan to go without them until he had to go back to school in the fall.  While shopping Kelsey had difficulty deciding between deodorant or a hair brush because she needed both.

I know from experience that wearing clean clothes and being able to care for yourself is a big part of a person’s self-image.  I want Kellen & Kelsey to experience Camp Weed’s full power of love, acceptance and safety.

I am seeking support to help collect or purchase the camp supplies I listed below.  I estimate each child’s supplies will cost $200.00.
