Céim ar Chéim le Cahir Comhaltas Virtual 5k
Due to COVID-19, we have not been able to fundraise. No church gate collections, quiz nights and our usual fundraisers that help keep Cahir Comhaltas afloat.
From the 26th to the 28th of March we are holding a virtual 5k fundraiser.
You can donate now by clicking www.gofundme.com/f/CahirComhaltasVirtual5k and there are spot prizes to be won.
You can undertake a walk, run or cycle over 5 Km in your locality or a circuit of your garden, yard or farm also if you wish. All donations would be greatly appreciated.
The aim of the fundraiser is to raise funds for Cahir Comhaltas, which has been active in South Tipperary for almost 30 years and our summer programme of Seisiún which has been running for 20 years plus.
One of the proposed aims of Cahir Comhaltas branch is to provide an Irish musical instruments resource or bank, to enable instruments to be purchased and made available for young potential musicians in our locality. Nurturing the untapped talent of young aspiring musicians has always been to the fore in Comhaltas, and traditional Irish music has a solid base in the locality as a result.
Cahir Comhaltas has promoted young musicians to go forward to annual County, Munster and All-Ireland Fleadheanna Cheoil down the years and hosted the Tipperary County Fleadh twice in recent years, the most recent being 2017 in Cahir, which was a great success.
All of our young musicians sit the annual music S.C.T. exams every year, ensuring their high standards are maintained. Our annual Tradfest in Cahir in September has been popular with musicians, singers, dancers and listeners alike, and although we had to have a virtual Tradfest in 2020, it allowed our young musicians to perform on a platform accessible to all both at home and abroad. We in Cahir Comhaltas plan to maintain our musical heritage in the locality in the coming years and thank you for your continued support.
