"Captain Portland's" humanitarian protest support

July 26: In response to an inquiry from Gofundme, the campaign is providing the following information:
Funds contributed to this campaign will be deposited into a bank account opened by Chris David a/k/a "Captain Portland", the Naval Academy graduate who was injured in Portland on July 18th. Chris intents to set up a dedicated bank account and these funds will not be for his personal use. Chris will donate $30,000 to Portland street medics and food banks. Any funds in excess will be held to establish a new non-profit veterans group. More detail is provided in the campaign updates as to the identities of the individuals and organizations providing aid in Portland.
July 25 update: THIS CAMPAIGN IS CLOSED AND HAS MET IT"S GOALS
Any additional donations made in excess of $31,000 will be donated to defray the costs of starting the non-profit organization "Wall of Vets". A separate Gofundme campaign for that effort will be posted shortly.

Chris David, a disabled Veteran, and graduate of the United States Naval Academy felt the need to speak truth to power and tried to engage in conversation with federal officers in Portland, asking if any of them were prior military and recall their oath of office to support the Constitution.
The reply he received came in the form of baton blows and mace to his face. Even though his hand is broken and he has medical expenses, he is declining any fundraising for himself.
Chris would like to give back to the street medics that took care of him when he sustained his injuries. Funds will initially go to street medics based in Portland. If the campaign exceeds expectations, street medics in other cities will benefit as well as food banks.
Chris is setting up a bank account specifically for the proceeds of this campaign. Funds transferred to this account will not comingle with any of his personal finances. Funds will be distributed at Chris's discretion to the street medic group that assisted him on the night he was assaulted as well as to bona fide organizations that have demonstrated a track record of providing care to the community. Funds in excess of our initial goal may also go towards Portland-based food banks.
"I...do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.
