After a year and a half of IUIs trying for a baby with no success, Leslie developed a mass on her right ovary in June 2024. She underwent a laparoscopy at the end of Dec 2024 to remove the mass, which was found to be an endometrioma. She was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis, adenomyosis, and endosalpingosis. Her left ovary and fallopian tube were completely encapsulated in endometriosis and scar tissue and tied to her bowel and side wall. The surgeon removed all of the extra tissue in the abdomen; however, there was nothing to be done about the extensive adenomyosis.
A month later, she was having pelvic pain again. An ultrasound revealed pelvic congestion syndrome and new cysts on the right ovary in addition to the adenomyosis. The surgeon said that it is extremely unlikely that Leslie will be able to get pregnant, and if she did by chance get pregnant through IVF, it is very unlikely any pregnancy would make it to term due to the severity of issues. The decision was made for Leslie to have a hysterectomy on March 4, 2025 (removing the uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and right ovary) leaving her unable to have children of her own, but ensuring she will not be in as much pain daily.
With this choice, Sarah and Leslie have decided to go forward with adopting a child as Leslie separates from the military and they settle in Austin, Tx. This fund is to pay for the cost of adoption, which will be about $50,000.
