Help Us Build a Medical Centre for Families in Jaghori

Hello, my name is Mustafa Erfani, and I’m raising funds to build a public medical centre in Dahmardah Gulzar, my hometown. This nonprofit project will provide much-needed healthcare for the community and improve the lives of everyone in the village.
The people of Dahmardah Gulzar, a remote village in Jaghori district, Ghazni province, Afghanistan, desperately need better healthcare. The current medical centre is outdated and too small for the growing community it serves. Patients, including women and children, are treated in cramped spaces, and basic medical equipment is stored outside. The nearest proper hospital is over 3 hours away by car. Construction of this new medical centre has begun, and we need your support to complete it.
Dahmardah Gulzar is home to over 360 Hazara families who rely heavily on this old, tiny medical centre for their basic healthcare needs. The facility desperately needs an upgrade. Although UNICEF and the World Food Program provide wages for employees and supply essential medicines and food for malnourished children, these organizations do not fund the construction of a new centre.
Our current medical centre is facing numerous challenges. Patients, especially women, have little privacy. The women’s ward is just one crowded room where consultations, screenings for infants and toddlers, and even childbirth take place in the same space, divided only by thin curtains. This lack of privacy and space is a major concern for the people relying on this centre for their medical needs.
Lack of storage space is a huge issue. Vital medicines and food for malnourished children are stored outside the medical centre (Bazaar & school) risking their safety and accessibility. In winter, the centre uses firewood for heating, which is piled up in hallways due to the lack of storage, creating clutter and safety hazards.
Basic equipment like stretchers is left outside, and staff have been forced to turn a narrow hallway into an office due to the lack of space. Another major issue is that men and women share the same toilet, which compromises privacy and makes the centre uncomfortable for patients.
The kitchen lacks even the most basic appliances like a stove, sink, or cabinets. It’s used as a storage area, making it cramped and inefficient. Dishes are washed outside in the yard, which is neither sanitary nor practical for a medical centre.
The new medical centre will resolve these issues by providing:
- Adequate Space: There will be dedicated rooms for consultations, childbirth, and screenings, ensuring privacy and comfort for patients and improving the quality of care. This will encourage more people to seek medical help, knowing they will be treated in a safe, private, and respectful environment.
- Proper Kitchen Facilities: A well-equipped kitchen with essential appliances will enable staff to prepare meals safely and efficiently, improving hygiene and food preparation.
- Secure Storage: The new facility will include dedicated storage rooms for medicines, food, and medical equipment, ensuring supplies are safe, organised, and easily accessible.
- Sheltered Medical Equipment: Designated storage for stretchers and other equipment will protect them from the elements and ensure they are ready for use when needed.
- Effective Heating Solutions: The new centre will have proper heating systems, eliminating the need to store firewood in hallways and making it safer and more comfortable during winter.
