WHY ARE WE ADOPTING?
Adoption and Life: Mommy and Daddy have always wanted to adopt. Wayyyyy back when they were just dating they shared they wanted both biological and adopted children. Mommy and Daddy got lots of opportunities to work with all kinds of different organizations. As they met more people and learned of these people's dreams and goals they became more and more inspired to adopt. However, they also learned of the corruption that often hides in the shadows of the adoption world. While adoption was still in their hearts life got busy with moves, new jobs, and even the births of my two big brothers!
Fast Forward: Mommy and Daddy started working for a church called Rain City Church. They partnered with an organization called All God's Children International (AGCI). AGCI fights the orphan crisis with education, prevention, policy change and so much more! Mommy and Daddy love everything that AGCI stands for. THEN mommy got the opportunity to fly to Colombia with AGCI and meet inspiring people who were fighting the orphan crisis in the capital! Colombia is amazing and Mommy fell in love. She was so excited to get home to my daddy and brothers, but as she packed her bags she cried. She felt like she was leaving a piece of her in Colombia.
That was fast: It only took a few days after being home for mommy to realize she DID leave part of herself in Colombia. IT WAS ME! She called daddy from work and told him she needed him to pray about adopting from Colombia. He told her he already had been and that they needed to submit their application. Mommy was so happy that she started crying in a coffee shop *so embarrassing mom*!
And now: God has been moving mountains and the adoption process has moved faster than mommy and daddy could have ever dreamed! They are saving and working so hard, but there are still funds to be raised! Would your family pray about partnering with my mommy and daddy to BRING ME HOME?
While special needs adoption (just like all adoption) is an emotional rollercoaster mommy and daddy have felt so much joy and excitement and are so thankful to everyone who has been in this with them!!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
**While we don't know who our sweet child is yet, we know that God does, so we are working together to bring them home. We believe that adoption isn't supposed to be just our story, but many many friends and family members journey with us. The Bible calls us all to care for the widow and the orphan. For some that's adoption, for some that is sponsoring a child, for some that's financial support, for some that's prayer.
Would you consider joining us as we fight time and red tape to bring our babe home?
UDATE:
I can't believe I wrote the above words more than two years ago! Fighting to bring this child home has been hard, beautiful, painful, stretching and everything in-between. We continue to press on as the vision of tucking three babes into bed at night is still very much alive in our minds and hearts.
Despite job loss, immigration hold ups, government building closures due to fires and protests, a literally pandemic, boarder closers... the list goes on we continue to march forward in this process. Without you cheering us along and helping us clear the path this process would have been nearly impossible. Thank you for being here with us!
Due to the many bumps in the road we are now at the point that our immigration approval is expiring. This means we now need to redo our Home Study and re apply to USCIS (United States Customs and Immigration Services). We thought the required appointments and signatures were complicated two + years ago, but add COVID to the mix and... well... you can imagine.
We have seen beautiful and divine things happen during this process and we are so excited and expectant to see the beautiful story God is writing!
Onward and Upward.
