Update: The rink is cleared of the recent snow and the cracks in the ice have been repaired - all by volunteers. It will be resurfaced in the coming days, either by the awesome volunteer-driven mini-zamboni or by a little bit of rain.
We are still trying to raise some more cash to cover all of the year's expenses, some upgrades, and a new (used) storage solution at the ballfield to house the rink, equipment, and supplies year-round. We are close to making it happen and continuing the skating fun for years to come!
Update: The rink is assembled and filled with water and the weather is in line with the earliest "first skate" EVER in our history! The rink's necessities and expenses are also covered for the year. We have increased the fundraising goal to account for a few upgrades and to pre-fund next year. We are also needing a storage solution for the equipment and supplies. Keep the support coming!

For many years the Brookline Ice Rink has been managed and cared for by a small group of volunteers, but really almost entirely by Tad Putney and his family. Starting this year, Tad has taken a step back to allow others to take the reigns into the future. Tad is still around and keeping us all in line and, unsurprisingly, offering a helping hand. We are excited to help and are excited for the rink to continue!
The Brookline Ice Rink is a unique and cherished resource for our town, providing a welcoming space for skaters of all ages and abilities. Supported entirely by the community, the rink relies on the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of those who value having a place where youth and families can come together, stay active, and build lasting memories. Each winter, the rink becomes a hub of activity, offering a safe and fun environment for everyone to enjoy.
This year, we’re raising funds to cover essential upgrades: a new liner, lighting upgrades, and a remote camera. The liner requires replacement every two years. Lighting upgrades will make the rink more energy-efficient and reduce the hours volunteers spend on maintenance, allowing more time for the community to enjoy the ice. The addition of a remote camera will let everyone check rink conditions and see what’s happening in real time, making it easier for families and friends to plan their visits.
Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting the rink’s operations and improvements. If we exceed our fundraising needs for this year’s upgrades, any extra funds will be used for future repairs, enhancements, and to help keep the rink running smoothly for years to come. Your support helps ensure that the Brookline Ice Rink remains a vibrant part of our community, bringing people together and creating opportunities for fun, connection, and healthy activity.
