Adoption is hard . . . it really is
I am not speaking from personal experience, but I am hosting this page on behalf of my friends Kelly and Michelle. They know all too well the trials of adoption, both in the figurative and literal sense. They are right in the thick of the long and difficult process of adopting their precious daughter, of whom they are currently legal guardians. In order for Kelly and Michelle to legally adopt their daughter, they have had to endure many trials…emotional, spiritual, and financial, and particularly in the legal arena.

Some of you have been following Kelly and Michelle’s story; some of you may have just clicked on this link for the first time and are catching up on all of the details. Either way I want to say WELCOME and THANK YOU!
Michelle has written out the full story of their adoption journey up to this point, I would love for you to read it and get to know this wonderful family. But I have decided to put the information about their current and most pressing need here at the top of the page.
There have been several new developments in this adoption story, which is why we are starting this page. Kelly and Michelle are beyond grateful for all of the support that they have already received up to this point, it has helped to get them to where they are now, but this new chapter in their story is a difficult one, and it is an expensive one.
Please read Michelle’s note below:
“Because we currently only have temporary guardianship of our daughter we have to hire a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) per the courts request. Our GAL will cost $1,400. The GAL is an attorney just for the baby, and will assess from an unbiased viewpoint who the baby should be with. Her options are with us or with the bio mom. We know that she is best with us, biased & unbiased. When we go back to court on March 24th for guardianship (again), being in that courtroom with our attorney will cost another $3,500.” – Michelle

This new development is scary, it is a step that they had hoped to avoid, but due to circumstances which are out of Kelly and Michelle’s control they are now having to move forward with the legal requirements which are placed before them.
I am going to just take a second to tell you something personally about my friends, they are phenomenal parents. They have only been parents for about 8 months (almost), but in that time I have seen them transform into the parents that this little girl needs. They have already made incredible sacrifices in this process, and I know that if it came right down to it they would give up EVERYTHING to keep their daughter safe. She is their number one priority, and I for one feel that there is no better home for any child to be in then one where they are loved unconditionally, and are brought up to know Jesus Christ as their loving and all powerful Savior and God.
So, we have set a goal of $5000. That is what Kelly and Michelle actually NEED to get through this process, but really just the next step. This is a very long road, so I am seeing $5000 as just a suggestion. In my mind there is no cap on this campaign, because even after the legal portion is done, babies are expensive!

Here is what you can do:
GIVE – This is a Crowd Funding Site, the point of this campaign is to raise money. So please, give whatever you can. Any amount is a huge step and is greatly appreciated. With your help this process can be made so much easier.
SHARE – Whether you are or are not able to give financially to this cause please share this story with your friends, your real friends and your 2000 Facebook/Instagram/Twitter “friends”. Crowd funding requires a crowd and in this technological generation we have the unique ability to reach masses with a couple of clicks. Please take 2 minutes to share, copy, paste, email, txt, tweet, and post this page.
Obviously above all else the #1 thing that Kelly and Michelle (and myself) are asking you for are your prayers. They covet them and value the time that you take to petition our Heavenly Father for this precious family. Please don’t stop praying for this process, family, baby, parents, finances, and anything else that you can think of. God is in complete control of this process and He will see it through in His perfect time.
Thank you for reading all of my rambles. Please read the rest of Kelly and Michelle’s story below and please keep checking back for updates.
God Bless you all!
Luke 1:37

“We have had our daughter since July 23rd, 2014. She was 16 days old, and now she's almost 8mths. Unfortunately, we are not yet her legal parents, but we are legal guardians. It looks like a long battle is ahead of us, but we are so thankful for every precious second we get to spend fighting for her. She has changed our lives so entirely, and honestly we can't remember what life was like before her. As many of you know she is a joy. A happy baby, who, despite the conditions that she was born in, is thriving. She has a BIG (both sides of our family, AND her biological) family that loves her, and a community of amazing friends who pour into her (and our) lives each and every day. We are so overwhelmed when we think of how far we've come in this process.
Alas, it is not over, but we see a light at the end of the tunnel. Just when we feel like that one little feather on top of the load is going to break us down; we are filled with what can only be explained as God-given strength. Thank you for sticking with us through this process. It's been a rough one, but Lord knows, she's worth it. We know that someday she will be ours.
Thanks again for your love, support, prayers, and encouragement. Words can't ever express how much it means to us.” – Kelly and Michelle
