Help a Blind Writer gain independence
Donation protected
I’m Nina, a 26-year-old blind writer from Texas.
I’m fundraising for a Bluetooth braille display. For those of yall who don’t know, thats a device you can connect to your phone or laptop with blutooth and it’ll show everything on the screen in braille, rather than having to listen to the screen reader wich is a voice that reads everything out loud to you. It’s a bit robotic sounding, but I’m greatful for it nonethelesss
Having this, can help with getting an online job. While yes, I can totally get one without a braille display and just use the screen reader, I tend to get overwhelmed by audio and do much better if I can read, rather than listen.
This display can also help with my writing journey. I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was little, and I have so many works and ideas right now, I’d love to be able to write and read what I’m writing, catch my mistakes more easily then I do with the screen reader. Stuff like punctuation, spelling, could all be caught easier with physically reading the thing, rather then listening.
It can even help me with reading. I enjoy audio books, but sometimes I’d like to read while listening to music or a YouTube video, but thats kind of difficult if not impossible to do since it’d be two sources of audio.
I could also, like what I’m wanting to do now, listen to an audio book while writing one of my stories, but I at the moment can’t do that because with the screen reader talking, its hard to hear the book, so I miss a lot and get a bit confused.
We’re 37 percent there, only need 505 and we’ll be at the goal.
Please, if you can, donate or share I’d really apreciate it.
Please help me gain more independence and improve my writing, reading and deal with audio less.
