Hello beautiful community,

My name is Samantha Thornhill —multi-passionate poet, healer, and founder of the Black Unicorn Fund for the Unconventional Family. I’m inviting you to stand with me in a vision: to architect into reality a transcontinental mama village for families of all shapes, sizes, and hues.

This vision starts in Costa Rica where I presently live as a digital nomad with my 6 and 10 year old sons. This vision has unspooled from my personal journey as a solo momprenuer in search of home. A mom who survived and is healing from life lessons. Here in the jungles of Costa Rica, I am rebuilding my life in the image of a matriarchal healing arts community.

This fund emphasizes its support of the most vulnerable families that receive little to no assistance from the other parent, which has been the weighty premise of my entire motherhood. I open this channel to other vulnerable moms with valuable visions.

As a creative entrepreneur (poet, oracle, writing consultant ) I’ve been able to support my children through our nomadic journey through three countries with my niche talents. My most recent quantum leap to Costa Rica a year ago was backed by my global community. This fund empowered me to make this big scary move, and created great pockets of ease and grace in times of exploration, and deep healing expansion. 

As an architect of a new, ancient reality, one in which mothers of these next generations of starseeds form a global constellation, which I see as being as interconnected as the roots of mother trees in an old-growth forest. 

The Black Unicorn Fund is born from this need to re-imagine a world where no mother stands alone. Our dream is to gather resources to secure land where unconventional parents and their children can live alongside one another, and thrive — a place for safe housing, healing, and workshops that nourish both body and spirit. We envision gardens, a community kitchen, journaling circles, integrative healing arts education and cooperative childcare so parents can build sustainable lives while their children blossom.

• Cover immediate housing and food needs for vulnerable single parents

• Build a seed fund for purchasing land in Costa Rica

• Launch creative and healing programs that generate income and empowerment
