Our beloved nephew Bentley just recently faced the heartbreaking loss of the passing of his father, Matt. Bentley is only 5 years old. Just like his dad, Bentley loves being outside. He loves to run, jump and climb. Bentley loves to cuddle cats (stuffed or real), eat cantaloupe, carrots, and blueberries, and he absolutely loves anything to do with bugs. Bentley is an extremely smart little boy who has had to struggle with more than his fair share at such a tender age.

My brother, Matt, loved his boy with everything that he had. Although he wore many hats in his community, being a dad was the one that Matt loved the most and was the most proud of. It is in honour of Matt that we have created this fundraiser for Bentley - to give Bentley the opportunity to follow is passion, wherever it takes him in his education. Maybe he will do something with his hands, like his dad; maybe he will follow his passion for bugs; whatever his choice, as his family and community, we want Bentley to be able to pursue his dreams.

We are creating a fund to help cover Bentley’s post-secondary education when he comes of age. Our goal is to provide him with the means to attend at least two years of post-secondary schooling. This fund will be invested safely to grow over the next 12 years, giving him a solid financial foundation as he begins this important stage of his life.

While no amount of money can replace the love and guidance of a parent, we hope that, together, we can give Bentley security and opportunity for the future. Every contribution, large or small, will help us build a fund that will allow him to pursue his education without financial burden.
