Hi, my name is Ben Jarvis and I am a 16-year-old A-Level student with a strong ambition to help protect endangered animals. I have been given the opportunity to volunteer on a teen-focused rainforest conservation project in Peru, and I am currently working to raise the funds needed to take part.
During the expedition, I will be:
- Living and working on an ecological reserve in the heart of the Amazon rainforest
- Conducting wildlife surveys to help monitor animal populations
- Feeding and caring for animals at a rescue and rehabilitation centre
- Assisting with the protection of endangered freshwater turtles
- Building jungle trails to allow conservationists and volunteers to access new areas
To participate in this project, I need to raise up to £2,500, which will cover the placement, flights (six in total!), and essential equipment. I am personally contributing £500 from my Christmas job, and I am actively seeking additional part-time work. I will also be selling books and other personal items, alongside organising fundraising events and seeking sponsorship.
